Who Runs the Backhaul in Dallas?
The backhaul is the main pipeline through which Internet service runs. It is sometimes called a backbone. A good metaphor for visualizing this is to imagine that the backhaul is the spinal column. Lines branch off from the backhaul, like nerves from the spinal column, which connect junction boxes to the backhaul. These junction boxes, like nerve clusters, also have lines coming out of them that connect to individual users. These lines are referred to as the last mile, regardless of how long they actually are.
With wireline Internet service, the backhaul is owned by the phone company. The last mile infrastructure is also owned by the phone company, but leased by other Internet Service Providers. So, no matter which ISP you get your wireline service from, the phone company probably owns the lines through which it is delivered.
Airband Owns Its Own Backhaul in Dallas
If you are looking for an ISP that offers service completely removed from that provided by the phone company, Airband can help. Not only do we own our last mile infrastructure, we also own our backhaul. Owning and operating our entire network gives us certain advantages over wireline service.
It allows us to monitor the entire system for potential problems 24 hours a day. Any potential problems we find, we can repair immediately, without having to work with anyone else. It also allows us to offer our service at lower rates, since we don’t have to pay “rent” for the lines like a traditional wireline ISP does.
Getting broadband service through Airband also insulates our service against phone outages. If weather or construction damage a backhaul line run by the phone company, you will lose your Internet and phone service, interrupting all of your communication. Any damage to the phone company’s lines will not affect your service from Airband in any way.
