DALLAS – Nov. 17, 2011 – Airband Communications, the largest fixed-wireless voice and data provider for businesses in the U.S., announced today its ranking among the fastest growing, privately held companies headquartered in the Dallas metroplex. On Nov. 16, Airband received the Dallas 100™ Award from the SMU Cox Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship.
“Airband has experienced solid financial performance, including strong revenue growth, in recent years driven by the insatiable demand for high-speed data and voice solutions,” said Airband CEO Michael Ruley. “Our entire team has worked hard to make Airband one of Dallas’ most innovative and market-leading companies, and we are proud to be recognized with the Dallas 100 Award.”
Organizations choose Airband for high-connectivity data, high-speed Internet access and voice over IP (VoIP) services that support their essential business functions and improve enterprise productivity. Airband’s Internet access offers a scalable and more affordable alternative to traditional providers by delivering bandwidth wirelessly, bypassing local phone and cable infrastructures. In addition, the company’s full suite of IP-based voice services provides flexible voice and unified communications features that can quickly scale to meet changing network requirements.
In response to the vast need for high-bandwidth data and enterprise-class voice services, Airband fueled its market expansion in 2010 by merging with Sparkplug Communications to provide a full suite of services in 17 markets nationally. In August 2011, Airband secured a $20 million investment from Boston-based ABRY Partners, LLC to further accelerate growth both organically and through mergers and acquisitions.
“Airband’s wholly-owned, fixed-wireless network overcomes many downsides of traditional voice and data services by giving customers the flexibility to instantly make bandwidth adjustments that correlate with dynamic business environments,” said Ruley. “Airband continues to see a strong demand for scalable network capabilities as customers deploy could-based solutions. We look forward to further delivering services that enable our customers to act nimbly as their operating environments evolve.”
Founded in 2000, Airband continues to thrive in Dallas, where the company has approximately 60 employees. Airband also operates key markets in Austin, Fort Worth and Houston, in addition to nationwide markets, such as Atlanta; Baltimore; Des Moines; Fort Lauderdale; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Miami; Orange County, Calif.; Philadelphia; Phoenix; San Antonio; San Diego and Washington, D.C.
The Dallas 100 Awards were created to promote economic growth and innovation while celebrating the success of local enterprises and job creation.
