Prairie iNet® Enhances Wireless Services in Illinois Communities

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – March 6, 2012 – Prairie iNet®, a leading fixed-wireless Internet service provider for more than 120 communities throughout Illinois and Iowa, today announced that it is upgrading its fixed-wireless network in eight regions to expand network capacity that supports growing residential and business demands for Internet access.

Because it is expensive to deploy terrestrial networks in areas that are not densely populated, small and rural communities are often underserved by traditional phone and cable service providers. Prairie iNet’s wireless network can be installed quickly and easily to provide affordable, broadband Internet services. With wireless services, potential downtime caused by construction cable cuts, flooding and other natural disasters can be avoided, giving customers higher uptime and better quality of service.

As a result of the network upgrades, Prairie iNet can now offer consumers and businesses in central Illinois and central Iowa higher bandwidth Internet access, greater flexibility to upgrade bandwidth on demand, and simplified pricing options. In addition, the upgraded network will provide new service packages for both residential and business customers, including new data plans and the ability to increase bandwidth by up to 5 Mbps, with higher bandwidth services available with customized solutions.

Illinois communities benefiting from the upgrade include Gifford, La Place, Maroa, Sadorus and Thomasboro. Other areas are also being scheduled for the upgrades.

“Prairie iNet has been an integral part of many of these Illinois communities for more than 10 years, and the network upgrade further solidifies our commitment to providing high-quality Internet access services that support the changing needs of our residential and business customers,” said Kyle Bonnstetter, general manager of sales at Prairie iNet. “We’re proud to deliver important communication services that our Illinois customers might otherwise not receive because traditional providers aren’t investing enough beyond urban population centers.”

In addition to providing broadband services to residential and local businesses, Prairie iNet’s wireless network provides particularly powerful benefits to businesses that have multiple locations across Illinois and Iowa, such as farming cooperatives. Premier Coop Cooperative has been a long time customer because Prairie iNet’s network allows them to eliminate the inefficient and time-consuming process of dealing with multiple service providers across different properties.
